At the request of China, the US has added Uighur separatists to their list of international terrorists. It is wisely believed that this was done to obtain Chinese assent for a US invasion of Iraq. Getting the Uighur separatists listed as terrorists has made the Chinese police more aggressive in hunting for separatists in western China.
