On Basilan island, troops killed one Abu Sayyaf rebel and wounded another.
NPA rebels have increased their attacks on property in the last week. Police believe this is due to businesses resisting NPA demands for "revolutionary taxes" (extortion payments.) The NPA needs more money because the US has declared the NPA a terrorist organization. This means the Netherland and Britain will crack down on the exiled NPA leadership that lives in those nations.
