Soldiers completed overrunning the MILF bases on Mindanao. Casualties were announced as 161 rebels, eight soldiers and seven civilians dead. In addition, over 40,000 civilians have fled the fighting. The MILF base covered about 500 acres and the 2,000 fighters who lived there have fled into the bush. The loss of the base will likely result in some of the fleeing rebels turning to banditry.
