Subject: Private Marine School, How-To

Here's a theoretical scenario. You have been tasked by some group of people who may or may not work for the govimnt to train 10-50 prequalified civilians with special backgrounds in non-military matters. The training is to entail both coaching and formal training...since you do not have the luxury of failing them...they must pass the courses you will set up, with the greatest possible skill maintained.....so you must resolve yourself to find a way...where there's a will there's a way. Can-do attitudes only. The training is for achieving Force Recon status for ALL members. This is all off the books, so they won't have to pass for Force Recon members, but they must have as much of the skill sets and hardness of conditioning that the constraints allow for. Your constraints are as follows: 100 million dollar budget....with a strong suggestion to cut as deep as poss. 5 years No more than 6 months of initial/basic training, consequtively Thereafter all training MUST be part-time (6 hours/day or less) LIVE FIRE exercises that include demolitions or military vehicles are done outside the US Otherwise exercises are on private land in the middle of nowhere...this is a black project. Stateside training is in the NW perhaps montana or oregon. Otherwise the globe is your mistress FIeld training allows for the use of collateral in training...as with underworld organizations-pirates-ad hoc campaigns in support of popular resistence movements in third world countries-assorted baddies You must find, determine the qualification of and maintain a vigilant eye on any prospective trainers......you are authorized to use spesnatz, seals, legion, grom, pretty much anyone as long as they are deemed loyal to the project at least during the training phase, you need not concern yourself with after. You must evalutate them..and convince them to put this together ASAP. All equipment/vehicles/supplies whether bought or rented or stolen are your own concern, there will be no linkages to any government authorities and you may not use PMC's. OFF THE BOOKS. HOW TO ??? HOW DO YOU PULL THIS OFF ??? WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE ??? WHAT SUPPLIES DO YOU NEED ??? WHAT VEHICLES ARE MOST IMPORTANT ??? As to training focus...it is generalized. Upon completion the members of these teams should be sufficiently capable to proceed in developing their own training based on their non-military training and that which FORCE RECON imparted to them...they need to be as self-sufficient as possible. No excuses. Can-do attitudes only.

Oh yes, I forgot you also do get 6-8 weeks per year under the cover of "vacation time" in which you have a 24/7 environment....you can break that up over the course of the year or concentrate it...otherwise what I wrote beforehand stands, as constraints go. Vacation time is anywhere in the world.

I have just one question on this...how do you think that completing the training you describe above makes you a "Marine" or "Recon" and, say a merc?

007 I think you should stop this and now admit defeat, it is annoying everyone, many retired or serving servicemembers included. Look if you dont want to be in the regular forces, try the reserve forces. I am glad I joined the reserves of a particular service in my country - it proved great for "working it out of my system" as you'd say, and prevented me going for that service full-time, which would've been bad, very bad. And now there is another career in a different service full-time I am hoping to soon pursue. I would rather make my mistakes in a part time job than a full time career, wouldnt you? And if you wont go reserves or wont go to the "wargames" sites like the others described on your other forum, then forget about it. I've never been on active service, being shot at on the ground, but even I know that even all the preparation you do for that time cannot properly prepare you. So how on earth you are going to recreate this unique atmosphere when you know full well you'll never have to rely on these skills and drills for your own survival, is beyond me. Either you're going to use it, or its playfighting. Ian

And before you criticise and attack my reserve service, let me emphasise, I passed all training and obstacles in my way and received further training and did everything asked of me. I have not failed in the job. I have simply experienced the reality of the job and recognised another job in another service may be more fulfilling. Ian

Jimme    What a Cool Idea!   6/11/2005 2:05:26 AM
To bad I hadn't seen this or 007's other thread till now wich seems a bit late. Don't know why so many attacked him this would have been a great idea even if it does sound a bit wacky. But then again ALL the best Ideas sounded wacky at first. Talk to some one miles away on a piece of wire called a telephone? the world is round? $5 for a cup of coffee? a flying machine? Drop out of Harvard to sell "software" out of your garage? All the above of course sounded crazy but today not enjoying there benefits is even crazier. His plan is more then doable and for a fraction of his proposed budget. He might realy be a rich guy in a midlife crisis or a broke wack job, the Idea is still entertaining. Not only would it forfill his life long fantasy but a good profit could be made on it, i'm sure he wouldnt be the only well to do person who has dreamed of seeing what its like to be trained in the military. Whith steven segal and wesly snipes movies who wouldn't. Hell donations could even be made to military widows (who I think should get like a million $). I dont think anyone should be insulted by the idea. Service men, Cops and Firefighters are seen as heroes and admired by many so its natural they would want to be emulated. Should take it as a sign of respect. It would also go a long why in sheding light to the true sacrafices made by our arms forces. 007 If you are still around get back to me I'd like to discuse this in depth.
