Subject: Shooting of wounded terrorist in Fallujah

That marine did what he had to do. Those hypocritical b@stards at the news networks. They would rather have had the marine go over and had a hand grenade detonated in his face, or roll the terrorists dead body off a trigger switch, detonate an ied and kill the whole fire team. I and almost any one else who didn't have a death wish would have done the same thing. You never leave a possibly alive terrorist behind, if you don't have the man power to guard him until the medics get there. It also p!ssed me off that Oliver North, was so critical of this incident. If anyone should know better it would be him. I had a friend who served in Viet Nam with the marines and he told me they routinely shot wounded especially during a battle, if they didn't have the time to take prisoners. From an ex-army grunt, magnificant job young marine. I hope those politically correct p#ssies that seem to run our armed forces don't get you. I will be calling my congressman and I call on others to do the same. That marine did the right thing.......

I agree, so long as it turns out that the wounded insurgent was actually playing dead. It's one thing if he's just lying there hands in plain view (even though he could still be on a bomb of some sort) and another thing entirely if he is trying to actively deceive the marines. I'd have shot him without batting an eye in the second case if I were the marine.

Ask any RLI member what they did to Terrs. Shoot first. Sorry that is life in the fast lane.

Kevin Stites (name is spelled wrong I guess) wrote an open letter to the troops of 3/1 Marines (the units the shooter is from and he was embedded with) about why he filmed the incident. I've read the full text of that letter in the Guardian and this NBC man is NOT some kind of Michael Moore prat out to 'get' or expose the coaltion men as trigger happy dopes. He has been shocked and dismayed at being portrayed as an anti-war activist. Furthermore, he has covered wars for 5 years and is not some ignorant twit who made a snap judgment about the event without contextual understanding. I'm sure you all can get the reporter's name correctly and track down that letter on the web. As for the Marine, he needs a chance to defend himself in court. I do not wish to say anything against him even though people around me have reacted with distaste at the shooting of an apparently unarmed man.

the pentagon should definetely do an investigation but from what i've seen he looks like he hasn't done anything wrong. im gonna give him the benefit of the doubt, especially because of what happened the day before. the other guy in the video said that he was wounded, thats what the terrorist who was shot should have said if he wasn't up to anything.

I agree. nothing would have been said if it werent filmed. There shouldnt be a big stink even though it was filmed. We nvr should have gone into Iraq and these guys in the white house got it all wrong but I dont care what the military kills as long as they get home alive because every Iraqi isnt worth one american life.
