Dear French Stratege! I do not underestimate the French military ability or rather the potential. What makes me wonder is the French propensity always to be one war out of date on the strategic level. WWI planning was a replay of 1870. WWII was a replay of WWI. And now You are planning to obliterate the Soviet Union, while trying to pacify the third world terrorists with bribes and lollipops.

"You are planning to obliterate the Soviet Union, while trying to pacify the third world terrorists with bribes and lollipops " Huh ? The SLBMs on board French SSBNs are not targeted to any country. They have the capability for quick targeting, but no pre-targeting is done now. For France to have nuclear deterrence is no more about stopping Red Army invasion than it is about Hitlerian Wehrmacht invasion or Wilhelmian Wehrmacht invasion. It's about the unexpected threats by great powers that could materialize in the future. History is here to prove that such threats are often unexpected, therefore come as a surprise. Nuclear deterrence is like life insurance, one does not need to have cancer to buy one. As for "pacify(ing) the third world terrorists with bribes and lollipops", sorry but I have no idea what it is you mean ?
