Subject: How Long Will They Last?
AThousandYoung    9/24/2010 5:47:12 PM
The battleships are gone, despite the wishes of many. They're retired, with a glorious history. But many greybeards are still out there fighting, pimpsmacking all challengers who try to take their thrones. How much longer will they last? Ma Deuce? AK-47? B-52? A-10? M-16?

Did I read correctly - you expect the M16 to last another 90 years?!

Sure, why not?  Although not in U.S. military service, but in backwater militaries and civilian hands (at least in America, where civilians still have the right to own automatic weapons).  Same with the AK and the M-2.  There are just too many of them out there now for them to disappear any sooner.  Cripes, you can still see third-world fighters using bolt action rifles--although that truly is rare these days, when everyone and his sister can get an AK.
