The Sig P320 is not an updated version of the Sig P226. All they share is calibers. The 226 is an all metal, hammer fired autoloading pistol. The 320 is an entirely different design - striker fired polymer frame - Combat Tupperware. Closer to a Glock in design concept than the P226. The Beretta M9 is a large, heavy pistol with a wide grip that many have difficulty controlling. When given the option of my department's issued Beretta M9 or buying my own, I bought my own pistol - Glock 21 with a "Robarized" grip in 45 ACP. Tough to argue with over a 100 years of 45 caliber successes in pistols. The M9 was a 1950's design whose days were long gone. It will be interesting to see if the Marine's decide to transition from their Glock 19 to the compact version of the P320. Then again, a pistol's job is to get you to your long gun.....

They made a fine choice, an excellent choice actually. I trust very few companies with my life, and one of those company's like Ruger, is Sig. I absolutely know that I will get the performance I need from something manufactured by Sig. Sadly with the forcible inclusion of women in combat roles nowadays, a lot of people complain saying we should stick to the 9 para due to the better capability to be controlled by smaller people. Though that has merit, it isn't without looking into all the factors such as the weight of the weapon and the experience of the user, that you can see the end result. Which is to kill someone whom is attempting to kill you, simply put. As the article states, people who are absolutely positively going into a situation where you will be presented with that situation, require a heavier chunk of metal to take someone down with. All the talk and discussion and debate rarely deals with honest discussion of the end result. I'd like to think that the choice of something by Sig, even if still in merely .35 caliber, will help the end result better than the M9. Also just for the sake of "because I can" I'm going to say the could put something such as 38 Super to the test, or something similar that has greater capability of producing better end results than 9 para... Screw NATO, and in the end don't cater to people who want to continue to use an inefficient man killing cartridge "just because it's better for some groups". The .45 or other proven stoppers I think work equally for the group that it really matters to. Which is the group of bad guys to whom is trying to take the life of a U.S. soldier. That group will react all the same to a .45 ACP lol

Just what 10mm are they talking about as being popular and more effective? .40 S&W? 10mm? I'm thinking the .40 S&W with 180 grain FMJ-FP slugs or JHPs.
