Subject: New British custard armour to be fielded by 2012??
JTR~~    1/14/2011 1:07:22 PM
The daily mail today published an article concerning BAE system progress in regards to developing a new highly advanced liquid body armour piece presumably to be fielded when the FIST project is rolled out across the army Take a look and see what you think: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1346877/Bullet-proof-custard-British-soldiers-wearing-revolutionary-new-liquid-body-armour-years.html Now there are several flaws in the article, as one it states that it is new. however i am not sure as to whether in saying this they are stating to the concept of liquid armour as if they were in this case they would be wrong as the concept of liquid armour has been thrown around for a number of years, or alternatively they were referring to this particular design by BAE systems as being new, in which case they would be right. It claims that the substance is top secret; to me this implies that it is a newly developed version of previous liquid armour concepts and being newly developed this could also be taken as it may be even more advanced than previous designs, thus making worthy of such secret status, it may even be revolutionary? The article seemingly implies that this new armour is superior to previous armour designs/concepts, would there be any truth in this implication?, they provide no facts to support such a claim but may this piece of armour actually be more effective than previous liquid armour designs?, has Britain finally produced something world beating again? Your thoughts on the article if you please? does this piece of armour seem any different to previous designs?, I know there isn’t all too much to go on but if any comments could be made it would be interesting to see what you all think on the matter, perhaps you can even shed a little more light on the particular subject.

sort of close enough, I think it is rather he is to cut the tank force by around 50 vehicles, the latest I heard was a 40% cut to the current inventory which will then be placed in storage, leaving Britain with around 250 active MBTs. I had also heard rumours that Britain may be considering deploying a number of Challengers to Afghanistan based on the successes of the Canadian and Dutch Leopards in operation over there.

Not new, certainly not unknown, and I await real world results. Strange things happen when edge effects come into play. I'm just very sorry that British soldiers will be the test subjects. Mark me cautiously skeptical.
