I think for this forum to survive people need to realize that other cultures and opinons need respect, I've being reading now for about 2 years and at one point it was a real eye opener for me and I spent many day just looking for info and people views on subjects. But now with people like 'Herold' it's turned into a quagmire and no resonable debate is found. I'm British and I understand that Britain is not top dog but other people on the board need to realize the world changes. Rather than be stuck in your ways why not treat peoples view with respect and if you don't agree reply in a calm and adult way rather than posting offending comments. I think it will be an advantage for everyone.

Ehhh...

Because most posters on this site are American and like the British 100 years ago, they feel they are superior?

I would also say that for many Euros (not all!) and other furriners, "respect" means, for the US, sitting still while y'all take a crap on our heads.  We are insulted, mocked, ingrated, stereotyped, ill-wished, in most cases by people who would do no better and probably worse than we, and who have amply proved it in the past.

And if we did what you ostensibly want us to do, and withdrew into our shell, you'd soil yourselves both wet and dry.

What you really want is for us to obey you.  To put our might unquestioningly at your service.  (If I had a nickel for every time I've heard "Oh, you didn't get into WWI or WWII fast enough to suit me, you only did it when it was good for you, so you get no credit for it whatsoever..." well I'd have me some nickels.)

Well, as some flavor or other of speech-impedimented cartoon Asians say, Rotsa ruck with that.

I hope this was calm and polite enough for you.   If not let me know and I will try again.
