Subject: France is a relatively weak military power.
Nappy    6/23/2005 5:02:28 PM
France is a relatively weak military power in terms of the world. It has neither logisitcal nor economic capability to invade none other then it's neighbors (possibly a land invasion of England included). What do I mean by invasion? Ability to completely invade, dominate, and ultimately totally control (not like the "green zone" areas and chaos we see in Iraq). Germany is a possiblity but their armaments production capability is far higher then France. Spain is also a possiblity, but to be frank not possible due to the terrain(Pyrnees), and capability of the Spanish airforce (they have a significant airforce believe it or not, in fact with a budget of 8 billion annually just for the airforce.) England is a possiblity also, the French navy is significantly inferior to the English navy but it's possible to perhaps make a surprise landing. As far as comparing France to say an India. This is ludicrous. If India wishes, (this will NEVER happen) she could invade Russia and take Moscow (without Nuclear weapons of course), this could be done fairly easily by India (perhaps with a loss of 20-30 million Indians), Indians frankly pump out more and better qualified engineers, chemist then say France and Russia combined as per the DOW chemical company R&D report in 2004, and have a better capacity to utilize these resources, the Indian economy is much bigger in production capability then say a France or Russia (as output by ODM per operating cost). Finally, I just don't believe France has the "willpower" to do anything like an invasion. It's people are too inclined to luxuries and other wasteful and decadent excess that they will rather surrender or bargain with another power rather then fight. I do not mean to offend or upset anyone (in fact this is a complement to the highly developed social paradise setup by the French people) but the realities are that in a war France would probably roll over.

I will be the first to say that US has made HUGE mistakes. And every country spies on others even there friends anyone who says otherwise is foolish. I think that what makes the difference is what you are trying to do. Trying to take over a place forever is not the same as trying to either keep it free or help it attain freedom. But with that said from the people in that countries point of view not much difference between that and someone trying to take over it. When a bomb hits your house the motives of those that dropped it hardly matter. Iraq was a mistake i can't say the same for Afghanistan, maybe we should have just toppled the government they had and left. I know looking back most of America would agree that staying after we did that was bad for us. Sometimes when you make a mistake you have to tough it out trying to find a way out that you can live with. Many times with less than total victory from your point of view.

American Spy 'Caught Red-Handed' by French, Left Paris Immediately

By Daniel Williams and Walter Pincus
The Washington Post
WASHINGTON

One of five Americans fingered by the French as working for the CIA was "caught red-handed" spying and left Paris immediately, well before the U.S.-French espionage scandal erupted Wednesday into public view, U.S. officials said Thursday.

A second American named by the French may leave "slightly ahead" of the scheduled end of his tour of duty this summer, a U.S. official said - this despite public protestations by the State Department Wednesday that the French charges were "unwarranted."

I guess they were there to prevent french intelligence agencies to steal KFC secrets...

They were caught trying to check on French negotiations with Qaddafi, They uncovered a double-cross.

Tribal politics (Hutus), French  assassination of a tribal leader  that led to a million deaths in the civil war they ignited . French defeat. French screwup led to the Kennedy Mistake. Iraq. Two US wars that finally overthrew Le Worm's  best friend and France's best arab customer. Also ended French arms smuggling in region. French political cowardice and drug trade connections. There is a REASON France and Pakistan is NOT HAPPY we got bin Laden's records.

ROTFLMAO.

A French violation of the NPT no less was under investigation at the time. We wanted to know why granxce was trying to sell reactors to rogue states.

French treachery.

Interesting what you can find from the Clinton era. Le Worm was quite a POS wasn't he?.

Every government has tried taking out leaders to change a country to closer to their point of view. It seems like a easy thing kill the current leader and put someone in more to your liking. I think most of the time it backfires. Sales to countries that are under some kind of sanctions goes on all the time. If you have the money someone will sell to you. Iran is a good example of that. Iraq's oil for food program another, I have talked to some friends I know in the middle east and they get very upset over Iraq. They tell me it was a safe and nice place before we invaded. I tell them it was safe and nice for some. The truth is the world was mostly quiet about the killing done by the former government and act like Iraq was a great place sometimes before we got their. I know that many have been killed since we got their, far to many. But I guess what I hope for is that 50 years from now It will have been worth it, because as of now it wasn't. I tell them that I hope Iraq will be like Germany and Japan free and fair for their people's. France has been a friend to the US almost since our beginning, like UK the three countries have danced sometimes around each other but allot of the time together. Like family though we argue about things and get hurt feelings and don't talk to each other for awhile. But also like family we come back because in the end we are family. I would hope that people here remember that through out history so many times we have shed our blood together.
