HA I wish! I've probably got another year and a half or two before going on cruise.

I'll prob have to change my username pretty soon tho.

Why's that? because you're out of the service?

Maybe I should change mine too... haven't gambled in years now lol... not since I was in Montreal in 92. But a casino is opening in Singapore some time soon... It's going to be a big one. All those mainland gamblers with their ill-gotten cash... it's going to be major.

Actually, I do know a thing or two about muslim extremists. They are trying to kill me and they are literally dying all around me. It's a war here. A group of them was just killed in Yogyakarta a couple weeks ago in a firefight with police and army units; one of their bombs, at the Hotel Marriot, could well have killed me because it's a place I (used to) got to regularly and I had just been there the week before. I work in the Central Business District and there have been bombs going off all over the place here: the Marriot, the Stock Exchange and the Malaysian Embassy. These are big bombs too: 200kg of C4 !

And your opinion does matter to me, GOP:)

You can call Kane out for nationalism, but likening him to a jihadi???? That IS out of line, sorry. I think you can make your point some other way...

Well, I apologize for my post. I thought you were pissed at me, so I responded rudely. Wow, you are in Indonesia right? That sounds horrible.

Your opinions matters to me aswell, I seriously always enjoyed your posts on strategy...I have always thought they were very well informed and smart.

I think I chose too strong of words. My point was that Kane's nationalism can be dangerous, and his nationalistic views seem to be as strong and closely held/belief as a jihadi's is. I wasn't saying anything about him being anything like a jihadi as far as actions/morals/etc, just that he seems to believe in his country as much as Mujahid believe in the Koran.

No hard feelings, man. I seem to remember that you're 18. is that right? are you going into the military, if you don't mind me asking?

I'm 17. Nah, I wouldn't be able to have the MOS/source rating I'd want if I joined the military, so that's out. My plan now is to finish my studies, and become a LEO (with the goal of being in SWAT).

Wow... impressive. When I was 17 my only thought was chasing girls (come to think of it... little has changed since then he he) I'm sure you'll succeed at whatever you want, GOP, you're a smart guy. Sorry if I sounded aggressive. I get your point now. Kane is actually a pretty tolerant guy despite his ever so slight Turkey bias:)

USN-MID       4/1/2007 10:11:23 PM
Nah, "mid" is short for midshipman, which is like the Navy equivalent of a cadet.

So I'll be going "active" pretty soon barring any unforeseen problems.

I didn't know that. Like most of my compatriots we know nothing about the sea. We are an archipelago of over 13,000 islands and most Indonesians don't even know how to swim (!). When a ferry goes down in warm tropical waters, within 10 minutes a rescue ship appears but everyone on board (usually up to a 1,000 souls) are already dead.... no one knows how to swim!
I'll leave you with the sage advice of an indonesian sailor who once told me that in a conflict, it's best to stay in the back of the ship "in case something bad happens" ! hahaha (weird advice ; i guess he thought a ship is like an airplane)
