http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/4767767.stm Tehran has so far rejected a call by the Security Council to stop uranium enrichment, saying its nuclear programme is for peaceful purposes. What do you think?

They've been saying that for a while now, I don't think anyone believes them.

The same Iranian leaders who insist Iran's nuclear program is peaceful are also repeatedly calling for the destruction of Israel, which would be a bit hard to accomplish with conventional armed forces, seeing how Iran and Israel don't share a common border, and even if their armies could meet on a battlefield, Iran would get trashed. How is Iran going to destroy Israel, if not with either conventional or nuclear attack?

Of course they do. The amount of petroleum that country sits on, one should only conclude their nuke program is out of necessity to meet energy demand. -end sarcasm

It depends on their definition of peaceful. The Soviets used to call for "peaceful co-existence" and we all know that would have involved thousand's of unfriendly tanks rolling over western Europe.

"Iran denied any illicit activity took place at the site." Though you'd be hard-pressed at this point to know, as the Iranians had RAZED the site before the inspectors had arrived and bull-dozed the remainder. Hmmmm... Look. It's really, really clear what are Iran's intentions. They've numerous opportunities to seek peaceful nuclear power. Iran has pointedly ignored the central question- "What that is being offered doesn't meet your professed desire and our concerns, simultaneously to our mutual satisfaction?" Because they can't without revealing, PUBLICALLY, their true intent. Kofi ought to shut his mouth and focus on the Sudan. He's an ass. Four months to move U.N. peacekeepers to Darfur-FROM MOGADISHU. What a joke!

Well... Firstly, we don't know for sure what's going on in their mind, but to make sure that it is for peaceful purposes, they should let the US control the process. Would Iran let the US control it? That's a big NO! so that is not really convincing to me. Secondly, I don't like to see any countries with nuclear weapons including the US, UK, Russia and all the other ones who have it. Their military power is already strong enough to deal with Iran or any other Middle Eastern countries.
