Shalom! What do you guys think would be the result of a war between Turkey and Israel(leaving out nukes)... I know that it won't happen because we are friends. But I'm curious... both nations have a lot of experience in warfare and are ferocious fighters. ?

I'm not talking about real politics... just the military capabilities of these countries.

First fo all, god forbid this horribale cenario. And god have mercy on both countries!... Israel can scratch 1,562,720 man, Turky 19,534,500!!!... That of course is not enough, because today technology is superior to manpower. Also, as Israel is smaller, more at risk, and in a permament state of panic from being earased (...), will "find a way", and try really hard not to lose such a war with its big neighbor. The airforce will bare most of the effort, of course. Why on earth did you think of this????

"I'm not talking about real politics... just the military capabilities of these countries." And good you're not talking about football either! ;^) There has been a lot of military cooperation between our two countries for more than two decades, and I'm certain that Turkish and Israeli naval and air officers know the other side's capabilities and weaknesses a lot better than Turkish and Israeli armchair generals such as myself do. It is doubtful, however, that such people would be interested in contributing to our little exercises, and we could wait a long time for them to post their views. One thing is for sure, it is that neither Israel nor Turkey have ever spent a single cent preparing for going against each other. Turkey's one-million men army is vastly stronger than the Israeli village militia although we have more first-rate tanks, and Turkey has a real navy as opposed to Israel's quite adequate but tiny coast guard-like naval force. Israel seems to have a slight edge in the air however, and while the overall combat aircraft numbers are as similar as the airplanes types themselves, Israel has a somewhat more modern and harder-hitting airforce, while Turkey has a large territory, which makes it's numerous airbases a lot less vulnerable than Israel's 6-7. (http://www.scramble.nl/tr.htm; http://www.scramble.nl/il.htm) If we are to go any further on this nonsensical scenario, I'd l

(Oops!) ...If we are to go any further on this nonsensical scenario, I'd like to posit a few assumptions that will make it more fun, and less scary to emotional types such as Itai and myself: 1) No nukes -we already said that, and besides, neither Turkey nor Israel has any, have they? 2) No NATO/US/Arab/Persian involvement, okay? 3) The battlefield is on Syrian territory and at sea, of course, and this happens only after the Syrian armed forces have mysteriously vanished from the face of the Earth. 4) The cities-of-our-hearts, Istambul, Tel Aviv, Izmir, Jerusalem, Ankara, Haifa, Mersin, Beer-Sheva, Diyarbakir, Ashkelon, Konyia, etc, are strictly off-limits, and only military targets are ever hit.

It'll take a really strong imagination for it though, as the Turkish generals are very unlikly to give such an order. They're very fond of all the nice weapon systems we sell them (and we are fond of them as buyers - especially as this doesn't anger uncle sam) and would much rather remain in good terms with Israel, the US and the west.

Also, to calm down Shirrush, and based (well, mostly) on this website: http://warriorsoul.4t.com/index.html Then except in the navy and towed-artillery departments, and offcours sheer numbers (I'm assuming no extra recruitment, meaning only the 1mil in active and reserve, and excluding a the other 18mil), we seem to actually be in not a hopeless spot. Air, armor and SP arty are on the Israeli side, and with no offence for our turkish friends I'll say quality is also on the Israeli side. The only major problem is their gdm huge navy...

Dear aceofw, About quality; Of course your equipment is better. But I don't think that the quality of "training" is better in Israel. Besides, Turks are known for their persistence and ferociousness. The fighting spirit and morale are beyond imagination. How is this in Israel?
