thats a standard 23mm gun off a mig21 and so on,, works on the gast gun principle, each barrel fires and its recoil operates the other, clever really

It's old, but it's a sound aircraft cannon.

How does it's rate of fire compare to a gatling?  I couldn't read the specs on the site.

I heard that it had a very rate of fire which is higher when compared to those Hipano Suiza 25mm cannons. But still comes abit short of the gatling.

Though, China used to produce a 30mm cannon which was tops, the ammo had twice the kinetic energy of any western equivalent, guess it must be too bulky to be placed in the J10 weapons suite. As that old 30mm is the real serious aerial cannon.

That's the old GSH-23. I have disassembled/assembled one once. Very sound design. Feed from one belt, no springs but two way gas recoil from alternate barrels. Three "loading chrages". One to load the gun in the air and two to cycle the weapon in an event of a missfire. 4500 rpm but rather low barrel life due that.
