Subject: ROBOTECH is Back!

Here's a link to view trailer footage of the all-new anime series Robotech: Shadow Chronicles http://www.robotechespanol.com/component/option,com_remository/Itemid,42/func,fileinfo/filecatid,35/parent,folder/ Just hit the "descarga" (download) link Warning: 94MB download As you can see, they make some interesting new use of CG mixed with cel-animation, but obviously most of it is raw pre-production footage. In the space battle scenes of Veritech fighters engaging the alien Invid forces, you'll notice that some appear to be the venerable first-generation VF-1 "Valkyries". Hehe, nice nostalgic touch. You'll also see a scene of a General Reinhardt hollering for "Admiral" Rick Hunter. Hehe, notice that the voice actor is the same fellow who played ace pilot Roy Vokker from the original series. So I guess Reinhardt will likely be a major character, if one of the original voice actors is playing him. Scene of a pained-looking Dana Sterling as she looks down on an Earth being overrun by Invid while she flees. Looks a little Noir... shades of 9/11? Bah, don't mind me -- I saw echoes of 9/11 in Batman Begins and the new Battlestar Galactica. Just like the new Battlestar Galactica, this show will feature a lot of human-on-human frictional tension. One of the prominent villains will be the praetorian Colonel TR Edwards, notorious for his hatred of Zentraedi. The story takes place in the aftermath of the exodus of the Invid Regis from Earth, as the Earth Reclamation Forces (formerly Robotech Expeditionary Forces) regain control of the home planet. Admiral Hunter and his flagship (SDF5?) are missing, and in his absence some political forces seek the opportunity to turn Robotechnology into something more sinister -- a means to dominate humanity and even possibly the universe...

Wildstorm Comics is doing a short comicbook series which bridges between the old show and the new. Here are some pics: http://media.comics.ign.com/articles/634/634321/img_2918179.html http://www.comicon.com/pulse/images_05/05dcrobo2.jpg
