Subject: Battlestar Galatica: See Earth and Die!
ker    4/16/2008 11:05:47 PM
The forshadowing that I am getting from this season is lots of death. I see a dry erase bord with the numbers of survivors again. The cylons are tearing them selves apart and Boomer is riping more than her share. With some fraKtion of the raiders having untested mods that affect freind foe identification, centurions ajusting to a major change in perspective and the skin jobs at cival war they may be more threat to each other than the humans. That's cold comfort. By the time the refugees get to earth, earth may not have them. Skin jobs may be contacting Galatica asking for protection. And the humans may just be fatalie fatally tired of each others smell. SSWA

A culture (or a person) can have parts of it's self that it knows and embraces, parts that are ignored and parts that are declared alien and made war on.

The Cylon are killing themselves over a disagreement about weather they should investigate the parts of them selves that they don't know about.  Parts of them are in their enemy (human fleet) and they dimly glimpse them.  So they start gouging out their own eyes.  They might have handled it better if they had not boxed a module for pushing too hard the see the final five. No tie votes with odd numbers.  Cylons are tied in to a collective unconscious.  I think that other people besides Baltar may start having visions or talks with themselves or Six.

It's dualitys. Divine/Machine. Good/Bad.  Male/Female.  Conscious/Unconscious. Rational/Irrational. Sensation/Intuition.

Lukas used a lot of Jung too.

Just watched last fridays new episode on sci fi.com. Damn that show is getting dark!!!!  I do like the fact that the Centurions are now self aware and sentient.  You can see it in the way they move and react to the "Skin Jobs".

Leoben Conoy (number 2) how many times must we vent you into space.

Star Buck is finger painting with Leoben.  This shows that she is opening up to messages from the enemy.  Leoben told her that all her drinking smoking and fracking are ways to kill a part of her self that keeps disturbing her.  Her legendary Cylon killing could be seen in the same light.  She like to do these things with Lee Adama but always sabotaged them.

Her crew on the sewage ship are not that open to experience.  They are feeling rural Pennsylvania if you know what I mean.

Now an argument for putting human pilots in the vipers was that the enemy could hack computer pilots.  What happens if the enemy can hack human pilots?  Or a human Executive Officer?

Every one is flying passed their visual range (in fog) and anything good that happens is not going to be by mortal design.

I keep hoping they will show where all these gods mentioned so loosely come from. Those of us that might be familiar with Greek and Roman mythology recognize their names. Are the colonials our forebears? Was it the colonials that built Atlantis? Maybe the Cylons destroy Atlantis, and in their civil war destroy themselves. Maybe Atlantis is already on Earth. Who knows?

Starbuck dose like to come home with enemy ships.  How dose she top this, bring back a resurrection ship?

Why haven't they reproduced the stealth ship?  I know chiefs been having personal problems but it was so handy.

-----------------------------------------------

Since the flags of the 12 colonies show 12 star constellations as they are seen from earth I tend to think that the humans came from earth to start the colonizes.  There could be a much more supernatural answer where the flags are a premonition of future events.  The human gods seam to be Greek gods. Rater than flesh out the theology the show gives us little peaces of the religion in daily life.  A liturgy here and a curse there.  Personal or cynical usages of religious imagery but no systematics.

They blew it up!

They found earth and it was radioactive.

The shot of skeletonized buildings on earth made me think more of the peace doom in Japan

Everybody is a Cylon.

It's a recursive loop in the minds of artificial intelligences that originated on Earth but wiped humans out in an effort to be "more human."

It has happened before and it will happen again. Enlightenment = sentience.

When the machines think they're humans, the programming to "kill all humans" kicks in.

Notice that the artifacts and signposts on the way to Earth from Kobol are older in age the closer the Colonials get to Earth.

That's because they're Cylons.

The Cylons are reliving the destruction they caused of all life on Earth "thousands of years ago" vicariously through automatons that think they are human.

Think about it. Only the "Cylon" characters on this show have well-developed (and written) personalities. Enlightenment = sentience. When the machine becomes aware is as spiritual to a toaster as when a human achieves enlightenment.

There was no human race in this show.

Everyone is a Cylon.

Very interesting idea.  What ever the twist is I know its going to be good.  This is one of the best shows on TV in the last 10 years.

Everyone is a Cylon. <American Kafir

I have to admit to being an addict to this show. I own the first 4 seasons. The central theme of this program seems to be: "It happened before it will happen again..." and finding a way to resolve that must be the final punch line. I find AK's theory probably the one that best resolves the theme with some type of moral lesson that will not offend the throngs of admirers of the program.

Another clue might be the "one God" belief that the Cylons have over the Colonials. That does dove tail nicely with American Kafir's theory since most of Earth's religion's have resolved creation with one Clock Maker v. earlier theories of a God for each season and reason.
