Subject: Excaliber Production Up'd to 150 Rounds/Month
Softwar    9/5/2007 9:28:50 AM
The US Army is ramping up production of the 155mm GPS guided Excaliber artillery round to 150 per month. Excaliber has proven itself to be valuable in Iraq where 92% of the rounds fired landed within 4 meters of the targeted impact point. Aviation Week, Sept. 3, 2007, page 20

...NICE!
Finally getting to see all that R&D money didn't end up as a cancelled, cost-overrun program like Copperhead (too bad they never refined it into a more cost-effective system, but now with Excalibur, who needs it?).

Seen this one yet?

(scroll down to pp 13-16)

Ah, sweet lightweight precision.
Hopefully this works, too.
(much to the disdain of people who think anything under 155 is weak sh*t, I'd actually like to see laser- or GPS guidance into every small package we can pack it into.)

C'mon, buddy, any chance you've got inside info (hey, even water cooler is fine with me!) that, since GPS works in 155 and looks like it'll work in the 120 PGMM also,
is there any even remote speculation we could one day in the not too distant future see 105 PGMs, too?

More than a little money has been spent to demonstrate proof of concept for guided rounds down to 40MM from at least three sources that I know of!

Secondly, the new corse correcting fuses will screw into any comon fuse well shell and will thus make it, in what ever caliber a "Smart" munition!

I can forsee the near future where rounds as small as 15MM can be guided to direct hits! Think of a 12 gage shot gun like weapon that fires guided missiles at enimy combatents and never misses! If that does not sepparate the have from the have nots, I do not know what will!
