Subject: The Religion of Tolerance
SGTObvious    7/31/2003 1:36:18 PM
Iraqi Shi'ite refugees are finally going home- for 12 years, living in Saudi Arabia, the "tolerant" Saudis would not let them practice their version of Islam. http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2003/07/31/1059480479691.html Tell us again about how kind and sweet the Saudis are to foreigners of other religions, Z-Pak. IF they act this way to FELLOW MUSLIMS, try and imagine how they would treat a Christian, Hindu, or a Jew. Oh yes, they are free to practice their religion "in their homes", because if the Tolerant Saudis catch you doing it in public, they beat you to death.

I'm going to throw my comments in here, simply because it seems Islam and Muslims are getting general statements applied to the whole group. Saudi Arabia is strict in its religious interpetations. Syria is not as strict in its religious interpetations. They are both Arab nations who follow Islam. The problem is fanatical Islam, not Islam.

The difference between Islam and fanatical Islam is that Islam justifies violence and fanatical Islam carries it out.

According to American Kafir in order to be peaceful the Islam believers would have to be hypocritical about the violence in their religion. This should not be impossible because you have to be hypocritical to believe in any religion exactly as written in the holy books. Approximately 150000 contradictions were found in the Bible. I think if we look with the same scrutiny at the Koran we will find the same amount of contradictions. PS I am also a hypocrit sometimes (only human).

Sorry I mention 150000 contradictions which is the number I remember reading. I cannot however find the link to that number again. If you're interested in what kind of contradicions in the Bible then follow this link: http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.com I started looking for this because I heard that theology student learn about these contradictions and I wanted to know what they knew and will not tell me.

Inherent contradictions in religious texts are damned near universal, found in every religion with a "holy book." So much that if the text doesn't contain a contradiction, it probably isn't holy.

Islam justifies self-defense. There is no such thing as "turn the other cheek" in Islam. If anybody thinks Christianity is more "peaceful", let us remember the 1st crusade that killed almost 40,000 innocent people (muslims and jews) in the holy land. The 1st crusade was called by the pope and it was answered by the "faithful christians".

If anybody wants to understand some history, I suggest you read Karen Armstrong book: "Holy WAR: The Crusades and Their Impact on Today's World" If anybody believes that Muslims generally think Christians are peaceful, then they are wrong. History is the witness.

SGTObvious    So what you're saying, cm....   8/6/2003 4:43:33 AM
Is that muslims are completely ignorant about the passage of the last few centuries, the Reformation, the Renaissance, the Enlightenment, the developments in social, theological, and philosophical thought, and believe that the West is still stuck in the middle ages like they are, all because the west, centuries ago, launched counter-attacks to recover lands conquered by Muslims? Yup, I'll buy it. Collectively their logic is akin to an adult hating his brother because decaces ago, when both little children, his brother had the audacity to hit him back in a fight.
