Subject: Saudi Arabia not as rich as they say
sikhwarrior    2/16/2004 7:50:42 PM
what would saudi arabia do when the need for oil in the US is no longer required due to solor or electic or even hydrogen powered cars. It total depends on oil. The petroleum sector accounts for roughly 75% of budget revenues, 45% of GDP, and 90% of export earnings. Also the average female fertility rate is 6.15 children born per women. That has got to be the highest in the world. With a population increasing and the threat of americians finding other sources of energy like the scandiavians what will they do. Also there isn't any other main stream industries in Saudi Arabia to fill for this huge gap.

Developing countries may pick up the slack. China for instance will need oil resources, as will India. Maybe the U.S. can reduce it's dependency on Middle Eastern Oil and let china deal with that hornets nest.
