But smart people (just ask them) tell us China is our equal right now and will pass us by in the next 5 years. Combined with Russian forces the Chinese would whuup our butts.

Nuclear Weapons will be obsolete one day, at least using the missile delivery system. The US is not that far ahead of the world, China just waits for a democrat to get in office then steals all the top of the line stuff. Whether they know how to use it effectively is another thing. But one thing that makes me wonder, why does Russia oppose the US so much? Why not become good friends with the US and see eye to eye as a democratic nation and we wouldn't have to worry about much....but nay, Russia would rather still hold grudges and arm China to the teeth with stuff they were 30 years behind in tech. That still amazes me how Russia distrusts the US....Go read Pravda.Ru you'd think that the US was there killing Russians....what's so funny is a website with such hated views and wrong theories can call itself Pravda.....

What a a stupid question, America needs a strong military because their allies don't help them with jack around the world, when it comes to peace-keeping operations, or small wars, America usually always makes up 95% of the military forces, and other nations will send a paltry 1,200 troops, while America sends troops in the six digits, so it's no wonder America needs a strong military, because the rest of the world is a bunch of PUSSIES!

Well lets not take it as far as calling them that they do have their own agendas and the small countrys have no millitary power so they can't help America.......so lets not be so quik to call them that.France and Germany didn't want to help America is because they had oil contracts with Sadam.....so did Russian oligarchs I am shure of that !

Although few countrys have a military with the same level of training that US armed forces have, their technology is not good as US likes to think. Most weapon systems are overpriced and are hard to maintain, they are acquired based on political conections more then their millitary efectivenes. '...and large recruitment campaigns, as seen on television are taking place right now' Thats b/c it is kind of hard to get ppl to sign up if they know they are signing a ticket to iraq :)... in fact even the US air force has recruitment problems. The army and national guard are having very serious recruitment dificulties. 'Why does America need such a strong military power unless they have plans to use it?' Unfortinatly for the rest of the world US is using their millitary and dont expect them to stop wile Bush is still president. 'Why not just be like Russia and rely on a nuclear weapons cache as a shield?' Nuclear weapons are very useless to the countries who have them. Unless the ppl of the said nuclear power decides to join some religious cult and insted of drinking the poisened coolaid they just decide blow everyone up... ;)
