For those australians in the canberra area... Unfort I can't go as tied up with other work issues. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ UNCLASSIFIED THE EUROFIGHTER TYPHOON – CAPABILITY BRIEF Wing Commander Jez Attridge, MBE RAF The Eurofighter Typhoon is a twin-engine, canard-delta wing, multirole, generation 4.5 strike-fighter aircraft. Wing Commander Jez Attridge Jez Attridge is currently attending the Australian Command and Staff College at Weston Creek. He flew the Tornado F3 from 1991 to 1999, the F/A-18 on exchange duties with the USMC from 1999 - 2002 and latterly the Eurofighter Typhoon from 2005-7. Do you have to have a bona fide reason to go? I'd love to but frankly I'd feel like a bit of a wanker when somebody asks me "so what do you do in Defence?" and I had to answer, "nothing really except that I like to argue with complete strangers on the internet about things that fly fast and go bang".

I'll check and see if its open to the public.  I can't imagine it wouldn't be otherwise they would be stipulating Defence Passes visible etc....  I don't recall seeing any restrictions.  Bits of LWC is however.   They've reminded everyone that they need their passes to get in. Warries have to be in uniform when giving sessions etc...

Some of the journo's have gone in the past (usually the industry journo's though)

It craps me right off that I can't go due to work conflicts.  last time I missed out on a JSF brieing as I was in Sydney for the week.

They used to do JSF briefings at UQ to try and inspire the students to come and work at the subbies. I never got around to going, but I thought it was a half decent recruiting strategy.
It's a shame that I'm not freelancing any more. It's amazing how many interesting things you can get into as a journo, especially if you get your editor to send the organisers an email.

I'm fascinated. In general what do you do that would bring you down for estimates?

I'm afraid that if I answered that I'd have to kill you..... :P
In reality, in this instance just acting as a private citizen trying to learn as much as possible about Defence (which to a significant extent I am endebted to all the valuable learned contributions here, and other places) and keeping a watchful eye on Senators to ensure that they do my bidding! (or rather ask questions that I want asked).

Brett.

Just curious, is it just a case of clearance level or is it also need to know and relevance to your role?

Basically would someone like me be able to attend?
