Norway has selected the F-35 over the Gipen NG as it was assessed to be measurably superior in all areas, which was not surprising but what got my attention was that the F-35 was seen to be cheaper!

I know, I have been following this for some time now. It will be interesting to see if it garners the full support from the SV Party within their parliament. I guess though, that with Hoyre and FRP the decision will get passed and signed off officially regardless of what the SV crowd say.

There appears to be serious doubt about the Norwegian claims that the F-35 is the cheaper as well as the more capable option.  I don't doubt that the F-35 is more capable but the cost claims did sound a bit iffy.
