Now we know why no one has ever invaded Oklahoma I guess.

However, I'd imagine that if you told a lefty of your service in an attempt to impress her, you might get a ration of crap, and have to listen to stories about power-hungry oil grubbing neocons and zionist conspiracies.

Hey you went to college too!  Man they are everywhere.

GOP I wouldn't sweat it too much, I have a professor who is apparently ex-MI, a liberal, a vegetarian, who lived with Sudanese rebel groups for a year or so, and is borderline anti-American who STILL hits on every single one of the ROTC guys in class.  Will wonders never cease...

Hey I'm not up to date on what your current situation is but have you thought about ROTC?  One of my ROTC friends is pretty into the whole LEO thing and is going for a PD on the other side of the state after his four years is up.  You could work MP duty or something along those lines, get school paid for, get four years of decent pay afterwards and end up with working for a PD after you get done.  Trust me, skipping the whole debt thing is a good idea if at all possible.

You don't know what the hell you are talking about and need to shut your damn mouth. There is NO comparison between SEALS and girl scouts (oops, I mean SAS). SEALS are more physically fit, deadlier, better trained and mentally stronger then any special forces unit in the world. My brother was a SEAL (Team 3, Class 145), and you wouldn't believe the stories I've heard. One Navy SEAL would beat the living shit out of any SAS. You can't get any better then the SEALS. You would have to literally be Superman. No SAS member would even make it through Hell week. America is the greatest military super-power in the world, and our special forces (SEALS) are the best in the world.

Maybe.  Maybe not.  The only relevant information is how much tougher they ALL are than you.

You want to talk about crazy motherfuckers?  I grew up in kind of a shithole town, lots of meth and coke floating around.  I knew this one guy who would tweak for 4-5 days straight with no sleep and wrap himself up in a blanket in a corner with a magnifying glass so he could use it to burn the feds who were "jumping from tree to tree outside his window" if they tried to come in his house.  He couldn't go to sleep either, because then they would drill holes in his ceiling and install surveillance cameras.  You don't have to pass selection to be insane.

I also heard a story of a 5-11 tall SEAL beating the crap out of a 7 foot Russian special forces guy. The SEALS used ot beat the Marines, and the Marines are better then the SAS. That should tell you something.

Joy to the world,

It's
Christmas
Break.

just to make things interesting how bout a 200 km route march with a 50 kg bergen across some nice scenic mtns and jungle before the fight breaks out.  give them a nice easy pace of say 36 hours for the march.

Haha, isn't that called "Test week" or something similar during SAS selection? That sounds killer. Hell week is extremely tough, but obviously that is extremely tough too. They are different. but equally demanding I would say.
Funny line quoted from Theo "The SEALs beat the Marines, and the Marines are better than the SAS so...". WTF? Who is this dumbass?

ooh, what will you call him mough? something 'cute' i hope, he seems like the fluffy bunny type
to theo [or whatever it was, my memory works not when in the case of muppets], if your brother really did take on 'three marines' then he's a fking muppet! it wouldn't be good for the 'best military force in the world' to have fighting between different units now would it. I put you at about twelve maybe thirteen years old [hence the influence of superman in your posts] and your sweeping statements have me pondering on your brother having been a SEAL. oh and by the way, my cousin is superman, so your brother aint so tough anymore

the fan dance and other picnics in the brecons are no cup of tea, yet as you pointed out, hell week is tough in its own right, i doubt i could pass it as a young up and start looking for a good time, water is not my strength. while they are different [obviously], i wouldn't say they are equally demanding as they demand very different things from a person, however, GOP, i understand what you were trying to get across.

Not to take anything away from Hell week, but there are many tests in military SOF training that can claim to be more difficult. Such examples can be found in Ranger School (it's difficulty is very underrated), SFAS and Q course (phase two is like a 40 day hell week), PJ Indoc, SAS and CAG selection/training. Horse and mough both illustrated specific examples in another thread (many moons ago). You have to remember, that in BUD/S, you get the weekends off. That is a huge moral boost for people who are having doubts if they can really do 6 months of this crap. Compare this to Navy EOD that has to endure physical and mental torture like in BUD/s, while at the same time absorb a ton of information. It has been compared to triathalons while in finals week. Again, Bob mentioned that the two programs are demanding in different ways. People have different stengths and weaknesses.
