Subject: What is the difference between the Army Rangers and the Army Green Berets.?
YOUGOTYOURASSKICKED    6/14/2008 12:41:59 AM
I am just wondering. It seems as if they do the same stuff, if so, what's the point of having two groups when they can just have one?

How could you ever come up with the conclusion that they are alot alike? Do more research, then come back and tell us your new conclusion.

i did some research, and found out that they basically do the same stuff, they both do unconventional warfare, direct action, reconnaissaince, etc. the only difference is that the Army SF do Counter-Terrorism and HR.

Rangers = Airborne SOF/Light Infantry SOF they are highly trained and rapidly deployable light infantry force with specialized skills that enable it to be employed against a variety of conventional and Special Operations targets.? airborne, air assault, and direct action operations, raids, infiltration and exfiltration by air, land, sea, airfield seizure, recovery of personnel and special equipment, and support of general purpose forces (GPF), among other uses.

Green Berets = Army Special Forces:  units are tasked with seven primary missions: unconventional warfare, foreign internal defense, special reconnaissance, direct action, counter-terrorism, counter-proliferation, psychological operations and information operations. The first two emphasize language, cultural, and training skills in working with foreign troops. Other duties include coalition warfare and support, combat search and rescue (CSAR), security assistance, peacekeeping, humanitarian assistance, humanitarian demining and counter-drug operations; other components of the United States Special Operations Command or other U.S. government activities may be the specialize in these secondary areas

SEALS = Maritime Special Forces The most important trait that distinguishes Navy SEALs from all other military forces is that SEALs are maritime special forces, as they strike from and return to the sea. SEALs (Sea, Air, Land) take their name from the elements in and from which they operate. Their stealth and clandestine methods of operation allow them to conduct multiple missions against targets that larger forces cannot approach undetected.

CAG (DELTA/DEVGRU) = Counter Terrorism

HHmmmm. Looking down my sleeve at both my Special Forces AND Ranger tabs, it would seem I've certainly earned the training and best of BOTH services. Not to bust anyone's chops, but it would seem to negate that statement.
