OK who wants to command an FFG7, fly an MH-60 Seahawk, P-3C, Kilo, Akula, Seawolf of 688i? Go buy Dangerous Waters from Sonalysts Combat Simulations who brought you Fleet Command, Sub Command and 688i go to At the moment the sim can only be ordered online but is now shipping. There is also a demo...It is great fun and there is a lot more to the full game than is shown in the demo.

Dangerous Waters has a lot of interesting things about it. For instance your contacts have differing degrees of reliability. Another good gimmick is that it is more subtle. Most games seem to go with the "the enemy is there-find him and kill him" approach. That is not appropriate to a modern based game. Yet so many just make up implausible scenarios as an excuse and then let you fight -rather like WWF. Dangerous Waters forces the player to consider strategy as well as tactics, including the political reprecusions he really would have to consider. Despite it's complexity it is remarkably playable. I already feel comfortable with it though I still have a lot to learn. Silent Hunter II on the other hand, I still can't "get" and seems rather intimidating to me. It may be I simply installed Silent Hunter II on a computer that wasn't powerful enough for it and thus got a ponderous game.
