Honor killings aren't uncommon in Islamic countries in general, and Pakistan in particular. However, this particular incident strikes me as being rare in its brutality. Usually (as you probably know), honor killings involve extramarital or premarital sexual relations, whether the sex was consensual or not (yes, a woman can be killed by her father or brothers or both for being raped). The strangeness of this case stems fromt he fact that, as Mr. Pipes pointed out, the 25 yr old daughter neither had sex with, nor eloped with anyone. Chances are the guy was already off his rocker and anything could have set him off. The unfortunate part is most of the time, "honor killings" are never punished and the murderers are set free. However in this particular case, given the fact that this case has a little international media attention, we have some hope that this heinous crime won't be ignored. -HoH

The practice is very widespread in an Islamic country like Pakistan! The perps are never brought to justice and it seems that the Sharia actuallt promotes this! There aint any Paki left to debate this but this is a fact none can refute!
