http://www.janes.com/news/defence/air/jdw/jdw070816_1_n.shtml Indian Air Force draft doctrine envisions broader role India is revising its defence doctrine and envisions the extension of the Indian Air Force's (IAF's) strategic reach from the Persian Gulf to the Strait of Malacca; transforming itself into an air power as part of a move to cover the full spectrum of defence. The initial draft of the doctrine, which has been created under the supervision of newly appointed IAF Commander Air Chief Marshal Fali Homi Major, is likely to undergo a "few" revisions before being finalised, official sources said. "Thereafter the IAF's operational procedures will follow the new doctrine that dwells on the application of military power and stresses out-of-area operations," military sources said. The sources said that the doctrine revolves around the primacy of air power in "shaping [and] customising" the battlefield to enable the army and navy to execute their nominated tasks.
