Subject: eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth

I'm not going to say that North Korea is harmless. But i want to point out that they're not stupid, otherwise they wouldn't be feared so much. What i WOULD like to say though is that the north Koreans are building Nuclear weapons for the same reason as the U.S. That reason of course is defence! Do we really think that they're suddenly going to bomb us all because a couple of guys on CNN told us so? If the US, china, the UK, France, russia and veriouse other nations can have Nukes, then so can they. Yeah i know what you're all thinking. Communist sympethiser right? HELL NO! But a humanitarian sypmthiser, YES! I'm not defending the North korean government, after all. Anyone who starves their own people is evil. But all this firing up over nukes in north Korea is a waste of time. Even If north Korea did cancell it's program like they were supposed to, they'd still have the nukes that they'd already made. Leave'em alone and they'll leave us alone. God knows that America has the power to kill every man alive with their nukes, yet they don't want a third world country to be as good as them. didn't the imperial age end 200 years ago? haha, i guess not in north america. I hate communism, but if they want Korea to get rid of it's arsenal, then thats fine america, but you do the same too.

Sorry bear, but your remarks are not quite rational: "I'm not going to say that North Korea is harmless." "Leave'em alone and they'll leave us alone." You cant have it both ways. They can't both be *not harmless* and be *harmless*. "God knows that America...yet they don't want a third world country to be as good as them." How is demanding that North Korea (a rogue nation as you yourself has admitted) live up to it's international agreements not wanting them to "be as good as us"? Explain please. How is wanting the starving people of North Korea to live under freedom from their despotic government not wanting to "be as good as us"? Explain please. "If the US, china, the UK, France, russia and veriouse other nations can have Nukes, then so can they." The US, France, Russia, and China very liekly are not going to threaten their neighbors with nuclear attack -- unlike N. Korea. As far as Pakistan, India, and other nuclear nations goes, the US opposed their efforts to gain nuclear capability. The US is also a signatory to the nuclear no-proliferation pact, which means that we do not want unstable antions like N. Korea to have nuclear weapons. Do you really want the current unstable regime in North Korea to have nukes simple because "other nations have them"? Really??? Recall that North Korea started a war that killed 50,000 of our citizens, and hundreds of thousands of South Koreans. They are led by a dictator/elite class who has starved millions of their own people to death. Who has attacked South Korea with its boats and saboteurs, and who has violated the DMZ hundreds of times. Who has kidnapped citizens of other nations and lied about it for years. Who made an agreement (it amounted to blackmail) with my nation (*and* the UN) not to develop nuclear weapons, but is doing so anyway. *Who is trying to blackmail the US and the UN AGAIN with its demands* There comes a point where a pattern of behavior clearly shows ones intents. What more of a pattern do you require from North Korea? NewGuy

Perhaps we should encourage South Korea and Japan to build a nuclear arsenal.

Don't forget the ROC! They deserve a nuclear deterence as well, against the PRC. And is also means they don't need our help in threatening nuclear retalition against the mainland.

Yes of course. Taiwan should have nukes too. And we should also begin training rebels in Tibet.

I forgot about them! I know that the Dali Llama is peaceful and such, but even some Tibetans must know that sometimes violence has its place.
