I don't know if you know the movie quote, but the implication is even worse these days. Just take a look. h--p://radioviceonline.com/promised-the-world-for-decades-detroit-left-in-ruins/

It was an interesting video, though it would have been nice had there been a shred of balance in it. Everything was blamed on the auto companies and the police for why the city is in crap shape. Nobody else is deemed a whit responsible, and that it utter hogwash. Of course the BBC made it so I should expect no less.

It's amazing how almost everyone they interviewed was utterly delusional. They all though the fact that Detroit once was prosperous was just by chance, and that the car companies just decided to screw it all up due to greed and stupidity. Not a single bad word was said about the unions, taxes or regulation. These are just the sort of people who think that no matter what a government does to siphon off wealth, there will be no impact.

Then of course the funniest part was the black people in the video lauding the race riots, and then complaining how all the white people left the city. Hmm, I suppose they don't do cause and effect any more in schools.

I have the same thought when I watched the documentary. The leftists in BBC would not attack leftist agenda that ruined the city, and I didn't even hear "Democrat" once. To cheer you up, here is what Steve Crowder did on Detroit:

Doesn't everyone know that it was George W. Bush, Reagan-Bush and Nixon (and maybe Eisenhower) who did this?

Do you really believe that? If so i just dont know what to say. The unions and social programs bankrupted Detroit its pretty obvious. You paint a partisan picture when Detroit has been solidly controlled by Democrats for over 60 years it has always been a bastion of blue. Another factor is that Detroit was very slow to adjust to market demands and the oil crunch which gave Toyota Honda and Datsun and firm foothold. I believe one of the only things keeping Detroit alive was the tariff on imported trucks guaranteeing the big three get all commercial vehicles and making impossible to compete with an imported truck.

Another thing to think about while you are blaming Bush for Detroit's failure (laughable)

In regards to social programs, unions, and gov workers. When a firefighter in Detroit retires it takes 19 firemen contributing to their pension to pay him when they retire it takes around 352 to cover the 19 so on and so forth. We had men working on production lines screwing in seats or putting rubber on windshield wipers making 80k a year and that was all they did. They retired making around 64,000 a year in retirement doing a job a monkey could do (seriously) Do you really think about why the system failed or is it easier to blame Bush to avoid reading. The US has become hostile towards business period and not just unions but government over-interference.

Quote is from Kentucky Fried Movie BTW
