I missed this one I guess. A Mexican media tycoon investing in the NY Times (Jan 2009) - New York Times confirms $250m deal with Carlos Slim It won't affect news coverage though?

It is fitting however since Slim is one of the greatest examples of crony capitalism and corruption in the hemisphere. His playing the Mexican government to crush his competition and support his monopoly has been the work of a maestro. This is right up the NYTs alley.
