http://www.npr.org/2011/01/08/132764367/congresswoman-shot-in-arizona quoted ===================================================== Arizona Rep. Giffords Shot; Condition Unclear by NPR Staff January 8, 2011 Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was shot in the head by a gunman at a public event in Tucson on Saturday. There are conflicting reports about whether she was killed. The Pima County, Ariz., sheriff's office told member station KJZZ the 40-year-old Democrat was killed. A hospital spokeswoman said Giffords was in critical condition and undergoing surgery. At least eight other people, including members of her staff, were injured. There also were conflicting reports on the number of deaths at the scene, but President Obama, in a statement, said "we know that some have passed away" and that Giffords was "gravely wounded." Giffords, who was re-elected to a third term in November, was hosting a "Congress on Your Corner" event at a Safeway in northwest Tucson when a gunman ran up and started shooting, according to Peter Michaels, news director of Arizona Public Media. The suspect fired indiscriminately from about four feet away, Michaels said. A congressional official told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity that the gunman was using an automatic weapon. The suspect ran off and was tackled by a bystander. He was taken into custody. Witnesses described him as in his late teens or early 20s. Federal, state and local law enforcement authorities in Arizona are investigating the shooting. The congresswoman was transported to University Medical Center in Tucson. Giffords was first elected to represent Arizona's 8th District in 2006. The "Congress on Your Corner" events, which she holds regularly, allow constituents to present their concerns directly to her. Giffords' Tucson office was one of three damaged last March by vandals who targeted Democrats in advance of the U.S. House vote on the controversial health care legislation. A glass panel at her office was shattered, and at the time her staff said that it appeared the window had been damaged by a pellet gun. About Gabrielle Giffords Personal * Born: Jun 8, 1970, in Tucson * Family: Married to Mark Kelly, a Navy pilot and astronaut with NASA; two children * Home: Tucson, Arizona * Religion: Jewish Career * U.S. House Representative, elected 2006 * State Senator, Arizona 2002-05 * State Representative, Arizona 2000-02 * CEO El Campo Tire 1997-00 * Price Waterhouse Coopers 1996-97 Education * Scripps College, BA 1993 * Cornell Univ, MS 1996 * Fulbright Scholar in Mexico, 1996 House Speaker John Boehner condemned the attack. "An attack on one who serves is an attack on all who serve," he said in a statement. "Acts and threats of violence against public officials have no place in our society." Her fellow Arizona congressman, Republican Jeff Flake, reached Saturday on his way to the hospital recalled that he had last spoken with Giffords on the House floor during this week's swearing-in ceremony. "We have a fairly small delegation and we've met often," he said of Giffords, who in November beat back a tough challenge from a Tea Party-endorsed opponent. "She got re-elected because she's tenacious," Flake said. "There was a very strong headwind against all Democrats and people did not expect her to come back to Congress. "But she was tireless," he said. "Others may have held back after things happen — like the damage to her office. She was fearless." Flake said emotions have been running high in Arizona over issues, including immigration. "That's obviously an issue that is a very passionate one for a lot of people," he said. In a statement released by his office, House Speaker John Boehner said he was "horrified by the senseless attack on Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and members of her staff. An attack on one who serves is an attack on all who serve....this is a sad day for our country." NPR's Liz Halloran contributed to this report. ===================================================================== Comment, What is known, is that she was shot in the head and is alive. Others (eight?) were also injured, including a child, who was killed in the same incident. Details are confused. The gunman was captured. As soon as I can find out anything, I will add to it. Addendum, a Federal judge (GOP Bush appointee) was also killed at this event, http://www.talkleft.com/story/2011/1/8/133013/1904 [quoted Dem AZ Congresswoman Giffords and Others Shot Outside Safeway By Big Tent Democrat, Section Other Politics Posted on Sat Jan 08, 2011 at 12:30:13 PM EST Tags: Gabriella Giffords (all tags) Share This: Digg! The maniac Loughner committed a political act. At this point we can agree he was a madman (see title of thread) but you are not seeing the operant mode of the psychotic involved.

Here is another example.

NOW Putnik does his job?

Herald, there might be a valid point somewhere in your post, but it has basically nothing to do with Loughner.  Unless and until you can show the direct nexus between some sort of Lenin in this situation and the crazed psycho killer Loughner, all your posting about human filth like Lenin permeditatedly stirring up the masses with powerful words has nothing to do with the murders in Arizona.  Likewise with this separate incident regarding the guy who said some hurtful words in a debate.  Now, if you think that the hateful rhetoric espoused constantly by the Left is what inspired Loughner, well, I wouldn't be surprised but I'd need some proof of that before hanging my hat on it.  From everything I've seen so far, Loughner was a loner who stirred himself up.  Thus, PM is right on target.  And by the way, actually spell out what you think your thesis is, rather than your typical game of hinting around at it without saying it, except for perhaps a one-liner or an empasized word here and there.

The beginning and end of this shooting is this. The shooter was a lunitic who acted out his lunacy at a time and place of his choosing. It(root cause) had nothing to do with right or left wing politics nor does any data support the opposite. All this is is a high stalker with a glock who exploited a vulnerable target. If it wasn't this it would have been something else. Don't let the unusually hight number of victims as a result of the method(mentioned months ago by me) introduce bias that would otherwise not be present if there wasn't a political figure involved.

And once again you post almost nothing in your own words, but cite two (mercifully) short articles which I read and which both *CLEARLY* point to Loughner to be the beginning and the end of any source of "blame," and two far-too-long pages which I'm not about to try to delve into without you citing some relevant passages and giving us a clue as to the what and why that anyone should read them.  Seriously, what is the point you are trying to make?  Can't you summarize it in a few sentences?  *Not* just one sound-bite sentence, but a few sentences that spell out some detail and make the connection to Loughner?  So far I infer that you are implying that there are an identifible group or groups of people/thoughts/philosophies that specifically causually influenced Loughner to go ballistic.  Name some names.  Seriously, obviously you already know what you are trying to say, but since we can not read you mind we can only deduce your meaning from the words you post.  We should not have to guess at what you mean; rather, you should have to spell it out so that we do not have to fill in any blanks to understand you.

You are both missing the connection between the target choice and the basis of Loughner's disordered thinking. And you both miss the  connection because you cannot see the POLITICAL  climate that produced the psychopath.Loughner and the maniac, Waller.

So you two are wrong on two counts.....Waller was another nut influenced to act out his violent psychosis and he used the CURRENT sociopathic political modality of thought to do so when he made his death threat.

==================================

I haven't "missed" the connection because you haven't *stated* the connection.  For that matter, you haven't stated the basis of his disordered thinking, either.  What is the connection, and even more fundamental, what is the basis?  Do not post links, give a brief summary in a couple sentences.  I think I might be catching on to what you're trying to say, but I am not about to try to guess.  As a two-way communication process, it's *your* job to express your thought, and it is *not* our job to try to decipher it and/or follow the bread crumbs that might lead us to it.

There is only one point here. Insane people are "motivated" by everything ranging from satan to what kind of shoes a victim may happen to be wearing and EVERYTHING in between. You cannot blame this on any other persons political views or public statements nor can any reasonable or PROVABLE correlation thereof be made. It would be the same as calling people who wear denim pants idiots because some luny tune decides to go on a shooting spree in a Levi's store.  The responsibility is solely and 100% on the shooter. Moreover, in this country, short of screaming fire in a theater, everyone from Palin to Obama has a right to say whatever they want without fear of blame because some nut chooses to use it as an excuse to act out violently.

I think the real interesting data point here is how infrequently things like this happen when you consider  how free we are to express ourselves, availability of weapons and accessibility to our public officials.

I don't like spoon feeding.

He is one of those soulless monsters who created the mess that passes for dialogue in the modern American political landscape.

Like Lenin he, Soros, has created in the members of the American political class he supports a collective psychosis, an insular incestuous world view that rejects the worth of the individual man and the need for individual responsibility, concommitant with the need for the 'political elite' to control the masses 'for their own good'. They've, the political class, lost touch with moral reality-the actual working definition of insanity

Loughner, in his disordered thinking, created phantom political enemies based on the myth that the collectivism Soros preached, created, funded and originated, included him as one of the oppressed who were denied hos rightful due. Rightful due? Where in the universe was Loughner guaranteed  anything that he did not earn? In his disordered mind he was denied by people like Tucson College, the GOP, and Congresswoman Giiffords. Why did he believe this? He was frankly too stupid to create any original thought, so what was the basis of his disordered political thinking?

Waller, another disordered mind, acted on the same exact paradigm. He was owed, and he was thwarted by an enemy.

That idiot Congressman adds to the evidence.

Never mind that he is the liar who describes himseld..

I don't have TIME to fill in all the blanks for you, GET THE BOOK.

PS, Darth America, this CRAP is widespread in America and insidious and it is TOP DOWN driven, Yes I mean that Chicago Thug is included, too. Where you see Soros and crew at work, Alinsky's disciples  and their vile offspring are not far behind.
