Since GE and Obama are nightly bed  partners, what did you expect?

MSNBC and GE Capital got Obama elected and his health care passed.   And only time will tell what else.

GE has become the biggest rent seeking advocate of crony capitalism there is nowadays. Of course they wouldn't have a shred of scruple about cozying up with the Chinese purveyors of totalitarian crony capitalism.

GE has more lobbyists in DC than all the oil companies combined. (Mind you this fact is from a book a couple years old and is subject to changes in current events, though knowing GE, I quite doubt it has changed).

Though honestly Nanny, I'm surprised you don't like GE. They are hugely on the Green bandwagon. They just love those subsidies.

Wow, what an ignorant comment.  The Chinese started their tours of the US in the early 80s and GE under Jack Welch threw open the doors and the R&D labs and has never had a problem hiring lots of Chinese engineers (Reagan was President in the 80s).  Under W, GE upped its global R&D presence in China to 30%.  Meaning 30% of all global R&D was occurring in China.

Check your facts.

Most of GE's profits have come from accounting tricks since the Jack Welch days, not from actual manufacturing of quality products.  In fact GE used to make money off of the tax write offs from making shoddy locomotive parts and documenting customer complaints.  They would get rid of entire divisions (to outsource first to Mexico, then China) to empty out buildings and take tax write offs on the declining value of the now empty buildings.

GE has long wanted to move its HQ from Connecticut out of the US, but thankfully successive Presidents have threatened to take away all defense contracts.

What do you tell a rightwinger who was only 8 years old in the 80's?

Today, the CEO of that largest-outsourcer-of-US-jobs-on-Earth, is the right-hand economic advisor to the President....Today.

Your beloved regulations are the marriage license between the two.

When profits come from being in the business of being in people's business(es), jobs are lost. We don't own jobs. When jobs go to Mexico & China, they're not ours anymore. The tens of thousands of Japanese jobs that were shipped over here are US jobs.
GE's profits are from toasters and blenders, dishwashers and waterheaters. not finance. You are getting beat-up with slave-labor wages and no safety...in manufacturing. I could see closing our markets to China (10% of their GDP, like a lightswitch). I understand a boycott of GE is as simple as flipping over consumer goods and looking for made in USA, since not a single consumer good they manufacture is made in the US.
But...I can't understand thinking that I know what GE should sell to who.

Oooh, GE is helping China make weapons. So what? China will never attack us, they have more to gain than to lose keeping us an a peaceful trading partner. Besides, shouldn't they have the right to have a hi-tech military? Why are you all so worked up?

An actual enemy whose leadership hates America and has atomic bombs should be militarily emasculated, its leadership changed, and be reduced to stooge ally status until a true democratic government takes hold in that nation.

You might consider that a good desired economic/political outcome if you knew how the governing PRC bandits actually think and lived on the US West Coast.
