Subject: Social media as trouble makers
YelliChink    6/1/2011 12:06:14 PM
http://www.wlsam.com/Article.asp?id=2200256&spid= Listeners report being at the beach, and seeing dozens of gang bangers pushing people off their bikes. Another listener says those causing havoc were not dressed for the beach and looked like "bad elements." Webster's dictionary defines a flash mob as a group of people summoned (as by e-mail or text message) to a designated location at a specified time to perform an indicated action before dispersing. Flash mobs also can be organized via social media sites. But recently in Chicago, flash mobs have gathered along Michigan Avenue to do anything but entertain. In January, groups of teens assembled along Michigan Avenue and shoplifted at three separate stores. Eleven teens ranging in age from 14 to 17 were arrested. Chicago Police are denying that a flash mob intent on causing havoc forced the closure of the North Avenue beach on Memorial Day Monday.

This is very disturbing development, as the criminal elements in the US have discovered a method to ruin it for everybody, not just poor people in under-privileged neighborhood.

And the racial element in the saga simly makes the situation even worse.

These sort of things happened throughout the nation in the past weekend, when organized crime start to send out their pawns to kill each other in the streets. It is known in the past that activity by organized crime in the current form is correlated to temperature and season.

The latest story is that it seems modern technology allows them to conduct coordinated actions and overwhelm the security on the spot.

We know that organized crime out-number police by at least 10 to 1 in places like Chicago. If current trend cannot be reversed, then we can expect total ineffective law enforcement in containing instant-mob style offense, and eventually will lead to deployment of National Guards and US Military for domestic security.

And you know what that mean to deploy military in the streets of the US.

It's Martial Law!!

YC, I am worried about you, do promise to stay safe won't you?

Stay away from social media before society itself disintegrates and everyone gets killed to bits.

Why don't you come to Chicago to see for yourself? I recommend Englewood neighborhood, or any place between 66th street to 95th street. Better walk on foot in the middle of the night.

GOD NOOOOO!!! We could afford to ignore these problems while they were only affecting poor people, but now that it might affect us respectable types, we might have to do something about it! Quick, call out the National Guard!!!

The first step to solve any problem is to isolate and contain the problem. Let the problem spread in the name of "social justice" is exactly the same to let cancer cells spread through out the body. The fact is that even police officers are in danger in those poor neighborhood. There is no fast solution, so the problem has to be contained first.

But it probably doesn't matter to you living in Australia. It's not you being mugged by teenage mob or your business vandalized anyway. Since we all know that liberalism is a mental disorder, anything coming out of your mouth has to be taken with zero seriousness.

In the meantime, a veteran living in Kansas City stopped 20-30 teenage mob ravaging a suburban neighborhood:http://www.fox4kc.com/videobeta/eb60d380-5921-4426-9f17-fc0283100157/News/Man-Says-Teen-Mob-Terrorized-Neighborhood

And, with a Mosin Nagant M44. Good thing is that the teen mob doesn't know much about guns, otherwise the vet may really need an AK.

Note that in all the articles referenced here that there are no mentions of arrests.  A major part of the problem is that the public has come to believe that the police cannot protect them from these gangs.  People expect that if they do help the police identify the criminals that they (the criminals) will be back out on the streets again within a couple days and with a good idea who was responsible.
In some ways the situation does not seem that much different from dealing with the Taliban in Afghanistan or the Somali pirates.  Has anyone worked out a COIN strategy for police work?

In fact we have had quite a bit of experience with social unreset facilitated by mobile communications in Australia. The Cronella riots in 2005 were a prime example. We haven't quite needed to put the military on the street though, the police tend to do and I fully support tough policing of this sort of behavior.

My comment on your post was more a reflection of my amusement at your hysteria and blind bigotry. You calling for military intervention because a few kids cause some trouble in a "good" neighbourhood, rather than in a poor one where it usually happens, was an absolute hoot. Thanks for the laugh little fella.

You are both too young and too ignorant to comprehend the scale of destruction by the riots in the US following MLK's assassination. Oh, and 1989, 1992 LA riots as well.

And your insanity of political correctness stupidity over common sense is staggering.

To the same degree of the two young British men murdered in a poor Miami neighborhood recently.

And, no, I do not like to see martial law imposed. I prefer armed citizens and Glock 22.
