Subject: Who As a VP Nominee Would Help Romney the Most?
CJH    7/14/2012 7:08:10 PM
I am wondering whether Romney has approached Hillary and whether she turned him down. But Romney has some decided liabilities and it may be that the best criteria should reflect a need for someone who can provide qualities Romney is missing. He needs someone who is a fighter, who is very personable and who is an effective communicator. Ideally, he also needs someone with experience in foreign policy and experience in dealing with Capitol Hill. Perhaps foreign policy or dealing with Capitol Hill can be farmed out to cabinet secretaries but Romney needs to reach the voters much better than Obama. Communicating better than Obama shouldn't be difficult but Romney will need get someone who can do it. Romney won the primary race on the basis of "carpet bombing" Santorum and Gingrich. The shoe now looks to be on the other foot at least in Ohio, Florida, Virginia, etc. I hear that sales work is easy when the product sells itself. Romney's primary battle methods won't help if he can't sell himself. While I think George W. Bush's VP selection model is the best for the country and that the choice of Condi would approximate this for Romney, the only way Romney has a chance of winning in November is with someone whose personality is more like that of Herman Cain without Herman's less salutory traits. The closest available person I see out there like that is Marco Rubio. What do you think?
