Subject: Red Alert?
ChrisWI    5/12/2003 3:50:03 PM
Three terrorist attacks all linked to OBL linked groups in one week, is this a sign of something to come? I think so, I mean 49 dead, 110 wnd in Cheychna, 42 dead in Philipines and now multipe deaths in Saudi truck bombing, I can recall 3 attacks a week in Israel, but never 3 a week in 3 different places. I think a attack on US soil may occur soon. Chris

I think the Californian really love being called a remote part of the world along with Denmark and the Fiji-islands

You'd be suprised to hear this all the time in far northern Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. Makes me wonder if it's a "Norwegien" thing...

As a lifelong Noo Yawkah with friends in the UP and Green Bay, I don't think it's Norwegian in origin. What usually gets labelled as a NY accent is actually Eastern European in origin. FWIW, my midwestern friends have actually commented about how much they love my accent, as it's something that they don't hear on a regular basis. But Holy Wah, when I go da U.P. an' dey start talkin' their accents set my heart to doing back flips. Regarding the Orange Alert, I'll basically keep to my pattern, and take the usual precautions. If I don't post before the 4th, I hope everyone has a safe and happy Independence Day.

ChrisWI    OBL letters's ask for more attacks.   6/26/2003 11:20:14 AM
http://www.cnn.com/2003/WORLD/asiapcf/central/06/25/osama.letter/index.html Captured letters said to be written by OBL urge more attacks on Westerners. Is this real or another thing to justify raising the alert level, id say its fake but you never know.

The real problem is, that any crackpot can cause massive cost merely by posting a letter to a newsstation - nobody want to rule out the possibility that a terrorist threat might be real.

Any sane person knows if they send a letter to a news outlet and then do an attack the casulties will be lower then if it happend out of the blue with no warning.

Problem is: Is it the disruption, that's wanted and casualties just a bonus?
