Subject: Who's worse? Hezbollah or the AQ?
WinsettZ    8/7/2003 6:17:48 PM
Hezbollah or Al-Qaida? Hezbollah is firmly entrenched in Lebanon. They've been untouched by US after they withdrew from Lebanon. Israel has recently pulled out. Hezbollah is a legit political party. It is still commited to the death of Israel. They are fairly organized, and also run schools and stuff. AQ is a tool, built for one thing: to kill and kill some more. Nobody is quite sure of OBL even cares about the people he is "liberating" from the "occupiers". We shall see. In any case, Hezbollah had a good run in the 80s, abducting a CIA station chief in Beiruit, torturing and shooting him in the face, executing persons here and there. Which group is more dangerous? With respect to the Al-Qaidas "newly decentralized" (central base=kaboom) operations?

Al Qaeda and Hezbollah tap the same labor pool.

Of course it's all bad, but Hezbollah did its thing in the 80s and faded, and pretends to provide legitimate services. It does, but it also continues to recognize that Israel must be annihilated. The AQ is just, the AQ. One is a sleeping giant, and the other has been scattered into the winds like mushroom spores.

There are some reports that the two organizations cooperate with each other on some levels, sharing everything from manpower to maintaining safehouses and logistical networks throughout the world to recieving funding via the same Islamic charities.

The following is just my opinion. Hezbollah and AQ are indeed connected and to what extent is still murky but there has been some connections made. In regards to Hezbollah it is true that they are deeply entrenched in Lebanon even having there own tv station which of course beems the anti Israel anti west rhetoric to those that watch and push the plight of the palestinian people. Hezbollah is backed heavily by Syria and Iran and has strong connections to the Iranian Intelligence community. The attacks most remembered by the American people are the 1983 Marine barracks bombing which killed 241 Marines and of course as mentioned the kidnapping, torture and execution of the C.I.A. station chief William Buckley. The man who is directly responsible for these attacks is a man by the name of Imad Fayiz Mugniyah.. Imad did indeed meet with Bin Laden in a brokered meeting in the 90s and from that point on there has been a ever increasing rumor mill of cooperation and assistance...IMO.. AQ is the most active terrorist group at the moment and this includes its splinters but Hezbollah has more potential to strike hard if it chose too... To say I am more concerned with one over the other would be wrong since both of course have the ability to do a unknown amount of damage to targets both overseas and here at home.. Hezbollah is alive and well within the American borders now and is involved in different fundraising endeavors in the muslim communities even after Sept 11th. Many of these fundraisers are disguised in a way that makes those contributing think the money is going for one thing which of course goes into the coffers of different terrorist groups. One Hezbollah group was smuggling cigarrets from one state and selling them in another and using the proceeds to funnel back to there own terrorism group... This is but one event... OBL and his infastructure needs to go down no doubt.. Good luck on Hezbollah.. Hezbollah has in my opinion a better chance at longevity and with its more ingrained infastructure abroad possess the ability to achive success if it chooses too... The tri border area of S. America is alive and well now with different groups and Hezbollah is believed to be trying to gain a foothold there as well...Research Imad Mugniyah!! Im surprised how he is overlooked by many so called experts. According to one Israeli intel officer quoted shortly after Sept 11th. He makes OBL look like a schoolboy...

In the months between 9/11/01 and the time of Operation Anaconda in March 2002, i would say Al Qaeda, now they are almost harmless to the US itself, once more and more Americans forget that day and the find new places to stay in, they will gradually build up their group and strike again, it already appears that some Americans have forgotten.
