It's true, this WoT is islam against everyone else. and we have further proof that muslims must not be trusted: Excerpt and link: U.S. Soldier Charged in Al Qaeda Sting Reuters A U.S. National Guardsman in Washington state has been charged with trying to pass military secrets to the Islamic militant group al Qaeda after being caught in a sting operation, military officials said on Thursday. Army Spc. Ryan Anderson, a tank crewman, was slated for deployment to Iraq this summer from Fort Lewis, near Tacoma, Washington, where his unit is based. U.S. officials have said al Qaeda, accused of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on U.S. cities and of targeting other American facilities around the world, was also involved in some attacks on U.S. forces in Iraq. Anderson was arrested on Thursday for "aiding the enemy by wrongfully attempting to give information to the al Qaeda terrorist network," according to Lt. Col. Stephen Barger, a spokesman at Fort Lewis. http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=topNews&storyID=4350906&src=eDialog/GetContent§ion=news

If this is proven to be true, this man should be hung. I am serious. This is unacceptable.

I wonder if John Kerry will defend him, saying National Guard service isn't crucial to war efforts or some sh*t. Fry this guy. But I'm still waiting for US laws to be applied to Jihad Johnny, so he'll probably only get prison time and a book deal.

No. not really. I am never surprised by the depravity of my fellow man. When I was a young troop in Berlin, friends had to physically restrain me from assaulting a superior who voiced support for a terrorist organization. Surprised, no. surprised it's taken this long to find/catch one, yes. I sincerely hope this idiot is put up against a wall as an example. sorry, that's the 'old soldier' in me talking. E.

"terrorist organization. " which organisation? I think a pertinent question to examine is what makes Islam so powerful an influencer, that it can take American or Australian kids, who are not born into it, and turn them into terrorists. The fanaticism of the majority of those born into it, is also alarming - really alarming, and not parallel to other religions/philosophies. It's a very interesting force. It is a more powerful influencer than other religions - what makes it so? Does it appeal to some particular facet of the psyche?

cap 72 asked: "Does it (Islam) appeal to some particular facet of the psyche?" Yes, it does. Consider its messages. 1) You may be weaker, dumber, lazier, and poorer than your opponent, but you're HOLIER, so you're better then they are! 2) If you have problems, its not your fault. The Infidel is responsible for all that is bad, Allah is responsible for all that is good. 3) We'll conquer them. We'll take their wealth, which should be ours by right, and we'll have their women. Islam is an adolescent revenge/domination/rape fanatasy, played out across civilizations. Any twelve year old who has ever been humiliated and said to himself "I'll show them... the bastards... just wait" knows what it is like to be a Jehadi. When you look inside yourself, and find the most loathsome, despicable parts, that's your inner Jehadi. Islam speaks directly to that part.

He was an avid (rabid?) supporter of the IRA. This was about the time a "brave warrior for Irish freedom" murdered a woman and her toddeler in Germany, then claimed they thought it was a British soldier; and that made it ALL better! (please note heavy irony there!) A terrorist is a terrorist. I think any discussion of islam and why it has "power" to draw adherents belongs on the "Eternal Wars" group... BUT! I'll throw out to you that IMHO islam has no more or less power than any other types of ideology to cause people to do things. E.

Sad. Eddie Slovak was a deserter, which means at worst he was a coward. This guy...if true, he's worse than a deserter. He's a traitor. Traitors, at the very least, get exiled with their citizenship taken away. At worst: firing squad. We're at war, so this punishment is fitting.
