| I was really disturbed by the Spanish election results. Historically, mass casualty attacks on civilians almost invariably cause a distinct swing to the right and an increased resolve in the civilian population. This has been shown both in instances of terrorism and in strategic bombing campaigns in wartime.
In any case I think this will most certainly be an impetus for terrorism. After so many defeats and being whittled down by attrition, Al-Qaeda will now be claiming credit for changing a major western government, correctly or not. This is going to help them recruit people and money both. Bad move. |
