DRIVER TARGETS 'BIN LADEN'
A French artist tried to mow down a pedestrian he thought was Osama bin Laden.
The 35-year-old was driving through the French town of Montpellier when he thought he saw the al Qaeda leader walking down the street.
Undeterred by CIA intelligence reports that have placed the terror chief in the mountainous tribal region boarding Afghanistan and Pakistan, the motorist put his foot to the floor and tried to take out the lookalike.
Lawyer David Mendel said the man, identified as Pierre, was suffering from hallucinations.
It was also suggested in court that the defendant had been traumatised by the Madrid bombings, which killed more than 200 people.
But Mr Mendel added: "If it was (bin Laden), we would have won $5m."
The defendant was given a three-month suspended prison sentence.
The pedestrian escaped unhurt.
