Despite the constant denials by the Pakistani govt that they continue to operate training centres for Islamic terrorists, there are a constant stream of reports to the contrary: To see the Pakistani "allies against terror" playing this double game is not surprising. After all, terrorism is the Goose that Lays the Golden Egg for them -- if they can reap the benefits of being an "ally on terror" while also continuing to foment that terror, then it's the best of both worlds for them. But the real question is -- why is the Bush administration turning a blind eye to it? Why are the "allies on terror", Saudi and Pakistan, the greatest sources of that same terror? Is the Bush admin serious on ending terror, or are they instead going through the motions of a War on Terror while reaping the benefits of it? It seems to me that the difference between the former and the latter is that when one knows about the existence of terrorist camps which are training and equipping hostiles, then one takes decisive action to eliminate them. Clinton was accused of sending million-dollar missiles to take out ten-dollar puptents, but at least he sent something. Sending out zilch while the puptents continue to pop back up, training fanatics to do tens or hundreds of millions of dollars in damage, not to mention the loss of life -- well, that type of ostrich-like behavior just boggles the mind.
