"depends on what you mean by deal " The first thing Hamas wants is continuation of aid- it changes no position.

No changed behaviour Hamas, then suffer the consequences. As soon as the international community said it was going to shut off the money tap, all of a sudden people in Hamas started blinking. Uptil that point it was death to the Jews, destroy Israel, etc. etc. Turning one's back on fanatics and bullies, regardless of their cause, only ensures future abuse and an attack when your back is turned. However, concessions including turning away from their dogma should be rewarded, and then as the Palestinian people see how better things are without killing and mahem, then maybe, just maybe, progression can happen towards making Palestine a peaceful democratic nation. However, I have no allusions that there are those who would see this as the death knell of their power, so they will with everything they've got, try to intimidate, kill, or otherwise sabotage any progress. Time will only tell.
