Subject: Is Religion Right?
Pelopanisian    3/7/2006 12:02:28 PM
I believe that we should rid the world of religion any way. Just think, no religion means that people think for themselves. FINALLY, a change in the world. Look back in history and you'll notice that religion as caused more death and destruction then the black death. Islam vs. Jews, Islam vs. Christianity, the Crusades, all battles and conflicts that deal with religion as the main reason for th fighting. Just think about it.

RE:Is Religion Right? 3/7/2006 4:20:41 PM My fellow pelopanisian friend I agree with you. If the world didnt have religion there would be less fighting overall. And those of you who think if there isnt any religion there would be total caos, i think your wrong because getting rid of religion isnt getting rid of government so there would still be some order... but if you look in the past like what pelopanisian said you would know that religion just ruin great nations, just look at the romans the most biggest and badest of all empires during its time but christianity tore them apart if they didnt have religion i believe they would still be around today...But the question is could christianity ruin the United States just like the romans??? Were do you people get your info from? Too much land and political instability plus too many enamys were what caused the fall of Rome. Nazi germany was not of any real religion, and were is the 1000 year rech? the USSR denounced relgion and so does China. Are they any good?

I have to agree with Mex - the fall of the roman empire and cristianity had very little to do with each other. There are plenty of other reasons for the fall, and ultimately christianity is essentially a mash-up of mithraism and abrahamic religions, both of which were common throughout the empire. Which is not to say I dont agree with the main thrust of the argument; I agree that religiously-based politics are harmfull and one of the worst possible bases for a system of government. That stuff about christianity causing the fall of the roman empire is *very* silly, however, as is the claim that the roman empire was the greatest empire in history... eu4ea

i agree with eu4ea.... also Max101 you said "And those of you who think if there isnt any religion there would be total caos, i think your wrong because getting rid of religion isnt getting rid of government so there would still be some order." you skip a point most of the governmental rules are based on religious rules. again my thought on this is dont think religiously while you're making a political choice...

"governmental rules are based on religious rules. again my thought on this is dont think religiously while you're making a political choice.." I agree, Religion, our mine, was never meant to be used in government, Why do you Think that Jesus or the apostles never led a revolution? Idiots are the ones who want to use Religion for their own sac religious purposes. That is the real problem. Do you really think that to Pope that started the crusades really cared about God?

"Do you really think that to Pope that started the crusades really cared about God?" of course not at those dark times in europe they saw the east more powerful and whealthy so they wanted to get a share from east.....and pope used religion to gather that crowd of landlords. and that just sucked... Do you know a person that is proud of pope that started the crusades?

Ok, I didn't read all these but b/c one religeon has gone haywire it means get rid of them all? I think not...besides being impossible to ever get me to turn my back on my God and Jesus Christ....I think the same could be said for several others of my fellow Christians....read what follows.... The world w/o Religeon would be the exact opposite of what you think you're going to get...no God = what do I care what I do here....no God = I can steal and my conscious is clear, no God = I can kill and what does it matter? we're all the same from an ant to human... no God = well you get the idea. Whether you think Religeon is bad or not, it certainly holds many in check I think. The Psychology of Religeon is so important to mankind. Besides, how do you turn on 1000's upon 1000's of years and the worship of a God to gods.... Bottom line, thank God it'll never happen ; )

I wonder if the amount of people who have been killed in the name of God even comes close to the amount that have been killed due to godlessness.
