Well Kevin Upton, Apparently you are not an American... let alone an Active Duty American Soldier like I am. I can tell you that in the past 203 years we Americans have deployed over 234 times..to help other countries (). That includes the major one I was in... SOMALIA. The U.S. has taken the lead on almost every "Country in Need" since the beginning of our great country's history. One of the reasons our budget is so large is to help other countries and preserve the FREE WORLD. Not to mention give both finantial aid and American Lives to do so. You do make a point about the UN though. If they could get thier sh#t together and make SOUND decisions instead of political ones.. the world might be a better place. But to say the U.S. does not do their share.... I would like to see what happens when the U.S. says... "Screw You" and not help any country for one year. What would that do? It would cause chaos. And make other countries pick up our slack. We Rich Americans should cut our Military Budget... but the moneys cut should be handing out Lives and Money to ungreatful nations that constantly vote against the U.S. in the UN. Do some research and get the facts straight. America has enough problems at home and we should focus on us... instead of trying to make people like you happy. When was the last time you deployed to a hostile situation and was willing to give your life for your country? I have and am proud to do so every day!!!

I think uptonKevin's posting is evidence that ENVY is the strongest human emotion, one no degree of logic can conquer. I think we need to pull out of the UN, "avoid foreign intanglements", and act decisively when our interests are at stake, NOT for humanitarian reasons. People do not get themselves into their various quandries for no reason. They have problems because their culture and attitudes are inferior. Bailing them out only defeats nature's self-balancing way of maintaining things. So, if you're a citizen in a 3rd world country and support a tyrant, or every-day corruption, you risk being swept away in a local war. There's a reason the USA is a relatively safe and prosperous place to live. If they want that too, they can copy us, not criticise us.
