Myanmar (Burma) is negotiating to buy R-27 (AA-10 Alamo) air-to-air missiles from Russia to arm its ten MiG-29 Fulcrum fighters. This has upset the entire region (no nearby air force could match this weapon) and the US is concerned that Myanmar (with a dismal human rights record) is acquiring such advanced air combat weapons.--Stephen V Cole
