Murari Lal, chief scientific officer a the Indian Center of Atmospheric Sciences in New Delhi says that the release of large volumes of burned fuel by US warplanes flying over the Persian Gulf, Pakistan, and Afghanistan is at least partly to blame for the recent doubts in northwest and central India.--Stephen V Cole
