Air Transportation: South Korea Gets More Lift

December 11, 2010: South Korea js buying four American C-130J transports. This is the latest version of the C-130. The C-130J is a 79 ton aircraft with a crew of three, that can carry 33 tons of cargo, 8 pallets or 92 paratroopers. The C-130J has a cruise speed of 644 kilometers an hour and max ferry range of 7,400 kilometers. The stretched C-130J-30, which South Korea has ordered, can carry more bulky cargo, and goes for about $100 million each. South Korea already operates a dozen older C-130Hs.
