Marines: September 20, 2000

Archives

Problems with engine bearings grounded all 107 US Marine Harriers in July. Of these, 45 had been returned to service by early September, when more problems were found with these, grounding 22 of them. The Marines can only fly 23 of their Harriers and are fixing the engine bearings in the others at a rate of 10 engines a month.--Stephen V Cole
