CKEM (the Compact Kinetic Energy Missile) is to be a new Army missile program that will have no warhead, but will accelerate a long-rod penetrator to Mach-6.5 and use pure kinetic energy to defeat tanks and aircraft. The original goals for the missile are no more than 4 feet long, no heavier than 50 pounds, and able to destroy targets from 400m to 5km away. Eventually, the Army wants to push the range to 8km. The missile will be used by both ground vehicles and helicopters.--Stephen V Cole
