GIAT and Renault have decided to combine forces and jointly offer to build 500 VCI 8x8 wheeled infantry combat vehicles and 150 command post vehicles (built on the same chassis). This is likely to be a winning offer, as the only other bidder is Panhard, which is teamed with the German company Henschel.--Stephen V Cole
